FAQ
Common questions
Everything teams ask before putting digital signage to work in Outdoor Spaces.
What Is Outdoor Digital Signage?
Outdoor digital signage refers to weatherproof digital displays, LED screens, and portable digital signs placed outside a building or in open-air environments to communicate with passersby, customers, or visitors. Common applications include storefront displays, event signage, campus wayfinding, parking lot screens, and drive-through message boards. Unlike indoor displays, outdoor digital signs are built to withstand sunlight, rain, temperature changes, and physical wear.
Can Outdoor Digital Signs Run on Battery Power?
Yes. Our Evo Roll Pro (A-frame) and Evo Tall Pro (tall-format display) both run on internal batteries for up to 10 to 12 hours per charge, making them ideal for outdoor events, pop-up activations, food trucks, parking lots, and any location where a power outlet isn't available.
How Do I Manage Content on Outdoor Digital Displays?
Our Sho CMS lets you create, schedule, and publish content to all your outdoor screens from any device with an internet connection. You can update a single sign or push changes to multiple displays at once, all without visiting the location. Sho supports integrations with Canva, Google Slides, Google Sheets, and more, making it easy to keep your outdoor content fresh and relevant.
How Bright Does an Outdoor Digital Sign Need to Be?
For outdoor use in direct or partial sunlight, a display should deliver at least 1,000 nits of brightness. Screens at typical indoor brightness (300 to 500 nits) wash out quickly in outdoor conditions and become nearly unreadable on sunny days. Our outdoor-rated displays offer 1,000 to 2,000 nits of brightness to ensure your content stays visible and sharp throughout the day.
How Much Does Digital Signage for Outdoor Applications Cost?
The cost of outdoor digital signage varies based on screen size, hardware type (portable vs. permanent installation), and the number of displays. We offer options at multiple price points, from the portable Evo Roll Pro A-frame for flexible outdoor use to larger permanent LED display solutions. Software is available through flexible Sho CMS subscription plans. We recommend scheduling a free demo so our team can provide personalized hardware recommendations and a custom quote based on your specific outdoor environment.
